The Calvin Strowig papers consist of correspondence, memoranda, notes, clippings, and other materials documenting his tenure as a member of the Kansas House of Representatives between 1963-1972. The papers are organized by date or topic, and concern Strowig's public appearances, constituency correspondence, and positions on various legislative issues. Topics include the Kansas Limited Partnership Act, licenses of camping trailers, constituent correspondence concerning Strowig's and the constituent's position on legislative bills, taxation and Governor Docking's tax reform plan, public health and welfare, campaign finance, liquor-by-the-drink laws, highways, George Washington Glick, correspondence of the Committee for the Re-election of the President between Kansas Republicans supporting Richard Nixon in 1972, Crippled Children's Commission, school finance, Strowig's candidacy for lieutenant governor, and other topics. Calvin Arthur Strowig was a Republican representative in the Kansas House of Representatives from Abilene, Kansas. He was born on December 31, 1923 near Paxico, Kansas, and spent his career as a theater owner and manager. He represented district 54 in the House between 1963-1964, district 52 between 1965-1966, and district 94 between 1967-1972. He married Betty Isley August 1, 1948. Strowig died on November 10, 1994.
